Insight Series: How the Humanities and Social Sciences Change the World
Time & Location
About the Event
Living in a time of unprecedented change has impacted on the ways we understand ourselves, others and the world around us. SHAPE is an initiative, supported by the London School of Economics and the British Academy, that makes the case for Social Sciences Humanities and the Arts as subjects and disciplines that are crucial for the well-being of current and future societies. As a coalition of academics, practitioners, policy-makers and activists, it advocates for greater recognition and capture of the value of SHAPE subjects and interdisciplinary research at a moment when their relevance and significance is under challenge: SHAPE (thisisshape.org.uk)
In this ‘research insights’ encounter, Professor Julia Black, the academic lead and originator of SHAPE, will present the SHAPE as a collective name for the social sciences, humanities and the arts. She will set out the context and ambitions of SHAPE and seek your views and contributions as how interdisciplinary research and your networks can take forward the agendas for change championed by SHAPE. The form of the event will be a short presentation, followed by a Q&A.
This event will be facilitated by Professor Julia Black.
